About

Anne E. Smith is an expert in environmental and energy policy evaluation, corporate compliance strategy planning, and risk management. She is known for her leadership in developing advanced quantitative models for market and macroeconomic impact analyses, cost-benefit analysis, probabilistic risk assessment, and integrated assessment of climate change and other energy and environmental concerns. Dr. Smith has applied such tools for clients in detailed analytical studies to evaluate long-range electricity sector and natural gas sector market responses to policy and technology shifts, power plant financial impacts, and to evaluate societal costs and benefits of global climate change, national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS), regional haze, air toxics, nuclear waste, and food safety. She provides her clients with expert guidance on the design and evaluation of market-based regulations, including externality fees, taxes, cap-and-trade, and other forms of tradeable credits. Dr. Smith is also an expert on health risks of PM2.5, ozone, and other criteria pollutants, associated epidemiologic and clinical studies, and use/limitations of US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) BenMAP and APEX models.
