CESSA, the European Forum on Energy Security in Supply Activities, hosted a conference in Berlin on 31 May - 1 June 2007. Energy regulators and other industry experts discussed the perspectives and challenges of natural gas markets and nuclear power generation in order to find a consensus on the short- and long-term security of supply in natural gas, nuclear power, and hydrogen. On the first day of the conference, NERA Senior Vice President Dr. Jeff D. Makholm delivered the keynote speech, entitled Seeking Competition and Supply Security in Natural Gas: The US Experience and European Challenge, which provided a comparison of natural gas deregulation and restructuring in the US and Europe.
