NERA Vice President Dr. Sharon Brown-Hruska participated in a panel discussion entitled "Conducting a Risk Assessment of your Energy Trading Compliance Program" at this forum in Houston on 29-30 January 2009. Dr. Brown-Hruska and her co-panelists discussed a range of topics, including: how to define the goals and scope of the assessment at the outset for best results; using modeling to determine what types of trades are most likely to attract scrutiny; key risk factors and how to ameliorate them; and building the case for conducting the assessment. The panel also addressed how to determine the best approach to a risk assessment, understanding the roles of the relevant players, and communicating the results of the process.
