On 13 June 2012, NERA Affiliated Consultant Edward Kee presented an overview of the global nuclear power industry at a summit hosted by the Utilities Service Alliance in Colorado Springs. Mr. Kee's presentation, "Economic Impact of Major Industry Events," took a look at who is building and planning new nuclear power plants and what reactor designs are being built and planned. Mr. Kee noted that electricity industry fundamentals and industry structure are important factors in determining which nuclear projects will move forward, while relative maturity and demonstrated success are key factors for reactor designs. He also described the emergence of state-owned national nuclear power companies that build a country's internal nuclear fleet and then enter export markets in competition with other nuclear plant vendors.
