On 6 December, Managing Director Masatake Kuramoto will speak at The Japan-America Society of Georgia seminar session “IRS Tax Enforcement: What Japanese Companies Need to Know & Prepare For.” Mr. Kuramoto and Grant Thornton Managing Director Steven Wrappe will discuss how recent changes to US transfer pricing enforcement place companies at greater risk of transfer pricing adjustments and penalties. The session will cover changes to the IRS audit approach, why the IRS’s litigation results are improving, and how changes to the IRS’s penalty approach make companies less protected from penalties. The speakers will explain how these trends affect Japanese companies in the US and how they should re-evaluate transfer pricing policies and documentation to reduce risk.
