This Law Seminars International conference, to be held in Boston on 18-19 October 2007, addressed key challenges being faced by the Northeast energy industry, including global climate changes, high and volatile commodity prices, and the push for greater energy diversification. Two energy experts from NERA -- Senior Vice Presidents Dr. Jeff D. Makholm and Eugene Meehan -- participated in the event. Dr. Makholm delivered a presentation, entitled "Transmission Cost Allocation Issues," in which he discussed the ongoing dispute on allocation transmission costs and how these issues are being handled. Mr. Meehan presented "Perspectives on Ownership Issues for Traditional Generating & Alternative Resources." His presentation focused on whether utilities should be allowed back in the market and if ownership should be limited to merchants.
