Tribal Energy in California

Cabazon, California
22 June 2009
Hosted By: Law Seminars International

President Obama's stimulus package and other economic development efforts are causing California tribes to transition from merely providing land, energy, or rights of way to becoming active entrepreneurial participants in energy projects. To examine specific market opportunities in California and energy sales from projects outside the state, Law Seminars International hosted this conference in Cabazon, California on 22-23 June 2009. A panel of experts discussed a number of timely issues, including federal and state policies, tools for overcoming regulatory hurdles, and practicalities of funding projects and structuring deals with both development partners and the buyer of the power. As part of the conference, NERA Senior Vice President Sandra Ringelstetter Ennis delivered a presentation entitled "Overview of Who is Getting Funding for What Energy Projects: A Look at the Current Climate for Project Financing."
