The Arm's-Length Adjustment Service (ALAS) Advisory Group of the Multistate Tax Commission (MTC) held a session in Atlanta, Georgia on 6-7 October 2014 where a small number of economic consulting firms were invited to provide advice on transfer pricing-related topics. The session focused on the challenges that states face in improving tax compliance related to intercompany transactions as well as ways to address those challenges, design aspects for the planned MTC ALAS group tasked with enforcing compliance with states' transfer pricing regulations, and the scope of services that economic consulting firms are prepared to provide MTC. Dr. Vladimir Starkov, a Vice President in NERA's Global Transfer Pricing Practice, shared his perspectives on these and other related topics.
