Hosted By: Cambridge Investment Research (CIR)
NERA Associate Director Richard Druce will participate at the Cambridge 8th Smart Grids Cleanpower 4IR Conference 2017, which will be held 19-20 June in Cambridge, UK. In the face of decarbonisation, the emergence of variable and intermittent generation technologies, and technological change in the electricity industry (such as the emergence of smart grids), the traditional market and regulatory models that have implemented internationally over the last 30 years to promote efficiency through competition are coming under stress. At the conference, Mr. Druce will explain the economic principles behind the market and regulatory models that have been used traditionally in the electricity sector and why they are facing challenges. He will also suggest how regulatory and market models can evolve to overcome these struggles.
