Hosted By: New York University School of Law
NERA Managing Director Dr. Jeff D. Makholm participated in a panel discussion at New York University School of Law’s “Pipeline Wars: The Battle Over Gas Infrastructure Development.” Dr. Makholm joined an esteemed panel representing the environmental and legal worlds to discuss oil and gas pipeline development in the United States. Virtually every major pipeline project sees a legal battleground between industry and activist groups. As infrastructure is needed to move oil and gas from shale fields to various locations on the East Coast, the legal objections to pipelines increase, often citing impacts on climate change. Dr. Makholm presents the economic perspective and outlines the tradeoffs that are necessary when developing pipeline infrastructure.
