NERA Associate Director Dominik Hübler will give a lecture about discount rate considerations for valuing mega projects to management and finance masters’ and MBA students at EBS University of Business and Law, a leading business school in Germany. Mr. Hübler will focus on various real-life applications, including 1) whether to use a private or public discount rate for government-sponsored projects; 2) standard models and advanced techniques; 3) key issues and fallacies in estimating discount rates when there are no comparators; and 4) specific topics for discount rate estimation for regulation and litigation/arbitration. He will conclude his lecture by discussing hot topics in discount rate estimation related to the current challenges faced by the European energy sector, including correctly accounting for inflation and assessing the potential impact of government intervention in power markets on energy assets.
