This NERA Economic Consulting study estimates that asbestos litigation has cost the US economy $343 billion to date and concludes that these costs have been nearly 10 times as great as the compensation paid to claimants historically. The study shows that proposed asbestos legislation will benefit claimants, workers, defendant companies, and consumers, and would save $71 billion in future administrative and legal costs alone.
This study was commissioned by the National Association of Manufacturers' Asbestos Alliance.
