Continental Airlines proposed the construction of a major terminal facility at Newark Airport.

NERA developed a REMI model for a three-area region that included (1) Newark; (2) the rest of New Jersey; and (3) New York City. NERA then developed detailed input assessments, which included detailed estimates of tourism and spending effects in New Jersey and New York City. NERA prepared a major report describing the economic contributions of Continental’s operations to the three regions.

The results of the NERA study were presented by the President of Continental Airlines to a group that included senior local and State officials (including the Mayor of Newark and the Governor of New Jersey). Continental received authority to develop the new terminal.
