NERA administered a procurement event to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) from new utility-scale solar projects, utility-scale wind projects, brownfield sited photovoltaic projects, and certain hydropower projects on behalf of the Illinois Power Agency (IPA). The RECs are for the portfolios of Ameren Illinois Company (AIC), Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd), and MidAmerican Energy Company (MEC).

On 16 December 2025, the Illinois Commerce Commission approved the results of the procurement event to support the development of 1,588 MW of new renewable energy generation: four new utility-scale wind projects (1,100 MW) and two new utility-scale solar projects (488 MW).
