Ashwin Nair specializes in antitrust and competition matters. He has experience applying a range of econometric methods, including reduced-form and structural approaches, to analyze questions involving competition and market outcomes.
Dr. Nair specialized in industrial organization and international trade during his PhD. His doctoral research examined the competitive effects and public spending implications of the 2018 US steel tariffs on highway procurement auctions across US states. He received the Tipton R. Snavely Prize from the University of Virginia, which recognizes excellence in graduate research.
Dr. Nair’s academic research has been published in the Economic Journal. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Nair was a research associate at J-PAL, where he worked on research related to public service delivery in collaboration with state governments in India.
