This year's annual Americas Spectrum Management Conference took place in Washington, DC on 6-7 November 2013. As in previous years, NERA participated as Knowledge Partner to the conference organizers, Forum Global, advising on the conference agenda.

The conference featured high-profile speakers from leading regional regulators, such as the FCC, Industry Canada, and COFETEL, and senior representatives from the communications industry around the world. NERA Senior Vice President Richard Marsden chaired two sessions. His first session focused on the FCC's forthcoming Incentive Auction, which is designed to facilitate transfer of prime 600MHz spectrum from broadcasters to cellular operators. His second session explored concerns about the proliferation and fragmentation of spectrum bands available around the world for deployment of 4G services using LTE technology. Mr. Marsden's introductory slides for the LTE spectrum fragmentation session are available here. NERA Analyst Jonathan Pike also attended the conference; his report on the full conference proceedings will be published shortly.
