On 15 August, Dominik Hübler participated in an interview with EnergieWinde about the auction procedures for offshore wind farms worldwide. Mr. Hübler assessed the results of the latest offshore wind tenders in Germany, which have been met with significantly lower levels of interest and payments than previous ones. He assessed the role so-called wake effects (“wind theft” by upstream wind farms) and the auction design played in the outcomes and any changes that could be made to the process.

The interview references his recent work with Leonie Janisch on supply chain and project cancellation risks and how to mitigate them, as well as prospects for more innovation through qualitative auction criteria. Mr. Hübler also discusses hot topics in international cooperation in offshore wind, namely hybrid interconnectors and wind farms connected to countries other than those whose waters they are built in.
