On 6 March, Senior Managing Director Jeff D. Makholm will speak in a panel discussion titled “Transmission Challenges and Governance for a Reliable Grid” at the Austin Electricity Conference 2025 hosted by The University of Texas at Austin Kay Bailey Hutchison Energy Center. The panel will discuss the development of transmission lines that support reliability and integration and explore the potential of DC technologies, from large-scale systems to smaller back-to-back solutions. Key themes also include governance challenges, including the shift from federal to more localized coordination and the balance between expansive regional grids and localized microgrids, and who pays.
Dr. Makholm will speak alongside Berkeley Lab Research Scientist Will Gorman, Power from the Prairie LLC Managing Member Robert Schulte, and McAdams Energy Group Consultant Tiffany Wu.
