On 11 September, NERA Senior Managing Director Fabrizio Hernández will speak at the GAR Live: Civil Law Summit in Madrid. Dr. Hernández will speak in a session titled “Mind the Gap: Rethinking Contract Interpretation and Advocacy.” The panel discussion will explore common myths about civil law in arbitration, examining how its methods shape contract interpretation, claim structure, and oral advocacy. The panel will also discuss:

• Guiding principles behind contract interpretation;
• The objective versus subjective approach;
• The consideration of extrinsic evidence and commercial context; and
• Potential areas of overlap.
