On 24 September, Senior Managing Directors Richard Druce and George Anstey will speak at the BIEE Policy Conference 2026 on the theme “Resilience at What Cost? Security, Affordability, and Decarbonization Under Pressure” hosted by the British Institute of Energy Economics (BIEE) in London. NERA is a proud sponsor of the conference.

Mr. Druce will chair a panel discussion titled “Decarbonization and Domestic Resilience: UK Growth and Security in a Changing World.” The panel will discuss how to achieve decarbonization, energy security, and affordability goals in light of recent geopolitical events that highlight vulnerabilities in key infrastructure and supply chains; the importance of cooperation among regional markets in supporting UK energy security and decarbonization; and measures to promote resilience and affordability in a low carbon power system. Mr. Druce will speak alongside National Grid Director Rob Rome, RenewableUK Executive Director of Policy and Engagement Ana Musat, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies Senior Research Fellow Bill Farren-Price, and Chatman House Environment and Society Centre Research Fellow Chris Aylett.

Mr. Anstey will speak in a separate session titled “Resilience for Returns: Securing Capital When Consensus Is Thin.” The panel discussion will explore funding models necessary to motivate investment under increasing marketing uncertainty. Mr. Anstey will be joined by Resource Now Managing Director Kruthika Anastasia Bala, EDF Director of Strategy and Policy Josh Buckland, Great British Energy Head of Policy Ben Leich, and Quinbrook Senior Director Rosalind Smith-Maxwell.
