On 27 March, Senior Managing Director Harlow Higinbotham and Managing Director Vladimir Starkov will speak at the 9th Annual USD School of Law Transfer Pricing Innovation Symposium. This conference will dive into global tax, finance, accounting, and legal areas to engage experts on legal and economic trends impacting transfer pricing compliance, planning, and controversies.
Dr. Higinbotham will speak in the session “Do Coca-Cola 2.0 and Medtronic 3.0 Signal a Need to Refresh the Section 482 Regulations?” with OECD Head of Transfer Pricing Manuel de los Santos, Tax Notes Editor Ryan Finley, and Caplin & Drysdale Partner Clark Armitage. The panel will discuss how recent trends in US transfer pricing matters illustrate difficulties encountered in applying existing US regulatory guidance.
Dr. Starkov will speak in the session “Expert Hot Tubbing Simulation” with Michael Kummer, Alston & Bird Partner Richard Slowinski, Baker McKenzie Partner Drew Crousore, and Kraft Heinz Head of Transfer Pricing Kathrin Zoeller. This panel will present a simulation of an “expert hot tub,” a courtroom process during which opposing expert witnesses simultaneously discuss and debate their opinions under oath in a judge’s presence to help clarify issues and uncover the truth, based on the facts of a mock case.
