Senior Managing Director George Anstey will speak in a session titled “The Challenge of Coherently Regulating the Energy Sector in an Incoherent World” during the RPI Annual Competition and Regulation Conference 2026 on 14–15 September. Mr. Anstey will share his thoughts on the increasing use of central planning and regulation by contract in response to market and policy uncertainty. He will speak alongside Single Source Regulations Office (SSRO) Chair Hannah Nixon, DESNZ Director Ben Golding, and Ofgem Director General Akshay Kaul.

The annual conference brings together leaders and experts from industry, regulation, government, and academia to debate the major challenges shaping competition and regulatory policy. Centered on the theme of “regulatory incoherence,” the conference explores how regulatory frameworks can respond more coherently to increasingly complex economic, political, and sectoral pressures, with discussions spanning regulatory economics, political economy, and public policy.
