As Japanese companies continue to develop their business in China and expand into other foreign markets, corporate structures have become increasingly complicated. Japanese companies must now explain their business activities to both domestic and foreign authorities in order to comply with regulatory demands in the areas of antitrust and transfer pricing. To address these matters, NERA's Tokyo office hosted a seminar, co-sponsored by Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners, in Osaka on 28 October 2009. The seminar addressed the connection between law and economics and how to apply practical economic analysis towards current antitrust and transfer pricing issues. NERA Vice President Hiroaki Ishigaki presented "Economic Analysis for Merger in a Mature Economy."
