Redwood City, California
19 May 2009
Hosted By: Quinn Emmanuel
NERA Senior Vice President Dr. Lawrence Wu gave a presentation on patent damages at a lunch seminar at the offices of Quinn Emmanuel in Redwood City, California on 19 May. Dr. Wu discussed the implausibly large damage awards that have been handed out by juries in cases where the patented technology is a "small" component of a larger product, the merits of "apportionment" as a solution to the problem, and why a properly applied economic approach leads to a reliable damage calculation whether the patented component is "small" or "large."
