On 7-8 June 2011, the Northwestern University School of Law hosted a conference in Chicago on internet search and innovation. NERA Special Consultant Michael Baye, the Bert Elwert Professor of Business at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, participated in a session entitled "Antitrust and Internet Search." Professor Baye presented "On the Optimality of Clickthrough Fees in Online Markets," a paper he co-authored with Professor Cathy Gao of the University of Miami-Ohio and Professor John Morgan of the University of California-Berkeley. Their paper examines optimal fee structures in two-sided markets when there is a monopoly platform.
