NERA economists, Dr. Tim Watts and Dr. Sheng Li spoke at the 2016 Chicago Forum on International Antitrust Issues.

Dr. Watts participted on a panel addressing Recent Hurdles in Global Merger Review. In the presentation, Dr. Watts and panelists, Nick Koberstein, Abbott Laboratories, Patricia Brink, US Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, John Majoras, Jones Day, and Jeanne Pratt, Canadian Competition Bureau, addressed ways in which entities could overcome regulatory hurdles in coordinating remedies and addressing potential competition concerns.

Dr. Li spoke on the panel, "Comparing IP Antitrust Guidelines and Enforcement Actions" where speakers compared recent IP guidelines adopted in China and elsewhere to those in the United States. Dr. Li provided an overview of China’s IP antitrust guidelines and the division of responsibilities between the Chinese antitrust enforcement agencies. Other panelists included Leah Nylen, MLex Market Insight, Frances Marshall, US Department of Justice, Greg Sivinski, Microsoft, and Alan Gunderson, Canadian Competition Bureau.
