Following the Ninth Investment Arbitration Forum that was held on 26 May 2018, a conference report was published on the Kluwer Arbitration Blog, a publication of Kluwer Law International providing information and news on International Arbitration. The topic of this year’s forum was “Valuation of Damages in Changing Economic and Political Circumstances” and participants discussed to what extent lessons learned in Latin America are relevant for investment arbitration in Europe. In one panel, NERA Managing Director Tomas Haug examined the use of hindsight information when quantifying damages.

The Investment Arbitration Forum was founded by Wöss & Partners and Sonia Rodríguez Jiménez in 2008 and has since been held annually. This year’s event at the Viennese Juridicum was the first to be held in Europe. The Forum was organized jointly by the University of Vienna, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and Wöss & Partners.
