KNect 365’s conference on Competition Law & Regulation in the Energy Sector brings together regulators, in-house counsel, external counsel, and experts to discuss major regulatory and case law developments affecting the energy sector. NERA Associate Director Bastian Gottschling and Consultant Lorenz Wieshammer presented on the cost of capital (WACC) and its relevance to the regulation of gas and electricity network tariffs, state-aid investigations, competition analysis of excessive pricing claims, and calculation of damages in litigation and arbitration. As part of the presentation, they showed how different data and assumptions led to substantial variation in recent WACC decisions.
