Los Angeles
16 July 2019
Hosted By: Los Angeles County Department of Public Health
NERA Director Dr. Elizabeth Newlon and Senior Analyst Barbara Kaleff presented to a committee meeting for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Dr. Newlon and Ms. Kaleff discussed their analysis of labor trafficking patterns found in the client-intake data provided by the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (CAST).
CAST is a non-profit NGO in the Los Angeles area that provides care and support services to sex and labor trafficking victims. Since 1999, CAST has collected detailed information related to the trafficking experiences of its clients. This unique database has allowed a seldom seen glimpse into the structure of economic networks that traffic people for their labor.
