NERA Associate Director Dr. Subbu Ramanarayanan will participate in the “Yellow Light for MA Hospital Deal: Understanding the Beth Israel/Lahey Health Merger” webinar. Dr. Ramanrayanan and other panelists will discuss several important elements of the merger, including:

• The background of the transaction;
• Conditional approval, including price caps and other constraints;
• The regulatory process; and
• Whether the merger could serve as a model for mergers elsewhere.

Dr. Ramanarayanan and NERA Consultant Dr. Emily Walden worked with the Healthcare System’s counsel in engagement with FTC economists and attorneys to address competitive concerns raised by the FTC. They also supported the parties in their response to the FTC’s Request for Additional Information, or “Second Request.” Dr. Ramanarayanan provided deposition testimony pertaining to projected efficiencies arising from the merger as part of the FTC’s investigational hearings.
