Eight NERA Experts Recognized in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2022

New York—NERA Economic Consulting is pleased to announce that eight of its experts have been recognized as leading practitioners in arbitration by Who’s Who Legal (WWL).

Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2022 singles out arbitration lawyers and expert witnesses renowned for their expertise in resolving complex international disputes. WWL’s research, along with nominations from peers and clients, identified eight NERA experts as leaders in their field with expertise in both commercial and investor-state disputes. 

Four NERA experts were included in the Expert Witnesses section:

  • Julie M. Carey, Managing Director and Co-leader of the International Arbitration Initiative, was described by her clients as “a highly qualified expert who is not scared to roll up her sleeves and work hard to be more prepared than any other experts” and an expert who “provides very thorough and comprehensive expert work” and who has “a great emphasis on details.”
  • Dr. Richard Hern, Managing Director and Co-leader of the International Arbitration Initiative, was described as an expert who “is absolutely outstanding under cross-examination” and whose “credibility is undoubtable.”
  • Dr. Jeff D. Makholm, Managing Director, was described by his clients as “a top-tier economic consultant” who is “great for claims in the energy industry.”
  • Dr. Lauren Stiroh, Managing Director, was described by her clients as “a highly qualified and experienced expert who is able to take a very strategic view of economic issues” and who “possesses significant capabilities” as well as “strong analytical and empirical skills in finance and economics” and is “a pleasure to work alongside.”

In addition, four NERA experts were included in WWL’s Future Leaders series as market leaders and the top of their generation in international arbitration:

  • Tomas Haug, Managing Director, whom clients described as “very strong as an expert witness in oral hearings” and “an impressive expert with a strong client focus.”
  • George Anstey, Director, was identified as “a top-quality expert for this work” and described by his clients as an expert who “provides analytical reasoning and sector understanding/knowledge coupled with a commercial understanding of client needs and goals.” One client said Mr. Anstey “impressed him with the quality and speed of his analysis and innovative thinking, as well as his strong sector knowledge.”
