Ling Ling Ang, Alexei Alexandrov
Associate Director Dr. Ling Ling Ang and coauthor Dr. Alexei Alexandrov, a Principal Economist at Amazon, analyze the effect of US subprime mortgage regulation on the availability of mortgage credit in “Regulations, Community Bank and Credit Union Exits, and Access to Mortgage Credit.” Their findings suggest that the regulation had no generalized impact on credit availability, despite hundreds of institutions of subprime mortgages exiting the market, as their customers were able to switch to similar loans offered by competitors.
On 9 November, Drs. Ang and Alexandrov will present the paper at the 13th Annual Conference on Empirical Legal Studies hosted by the University of Michigan Law School.
