Our renewables experts provide a range of support services, including evaluating the market potential for new technologies and business plan support, long-term market price forecasts, and the evaluation of competitive threats and opportunities.

  • Market potential. We develop assessments of the market for different renewable technologies, including the identification of potential clients, forecasts of demand, evaluation of competitors, trends in underlying material costs, and long-term forecasts of prices for different renewable technologies.
  • Electric price forecasts. We develop long-term wholesale electric price forecasts and REC price forecasts to value the merchant tail associated with currently contracted renewable generation assets as well as merchant assets.
  • Evaluation of operating margins. We develop specialized models to address the forecast of margins of non-conventional generation technologies such as battery and limited energy storage resources.
  • Evaluation of regulatory risk. NERA works with clients to understand the impact of regulatory policy on the economics of different renewable investments. This work includes the review and likely persistence of different subsidies and other market support mechanisms as well as potential changes in market rules.
  • Business strategy development. NERA assists clients in analyzing markets to identify potential selling opportunities and potential business partners, examine the supply chain of different technologies, and evaluate threats and opportunities associated with disruptive technologies.
  • Market expert reports for financing. We combine the above skills to develop independent market expert reports to support buy- and sell-side transactions related to renewable resources.
  • Renewables fuel supply. We analyze fuel supply issues and risks associated with renewable generation fuel supply related to biomass and waste products.
