Daniel Werner specializes in economic, financial, and statistical analysis to support complex litigation and other business challenges. Dr. Werner has applied his expertise to matters involving economic damages, lost profits, unjust enrichment, valuation, and reasonable royalties, among other issues. He frequently performs in-depth analyses of large datasets, financial statements, and discovery documents and often consults on cases involving allegations related to breach of contract, false advertising, product labelling, product defects, patent infringement, trade secrets, and trademarks.
Dr. Werner has provided oral and written expert testimony for federal and state court cases in connection with his economic analyses, including trial testimony covering economic damages and lost profits. He has performed rigorous quantitative analysis in a range of industries including consumer retail products, technology (hardware and software), advertising, agriculture (food processing and grocery products), automobiles, and real estate.
Dr. Werner regularly publishes articles and presents on topics spanning economics, valuation, economic damages in litigation, and the application of statistical methods. Prior to joining NERA, Dr. Werner served as an economist at a boutique consulting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area and analyzed financial data while working at a Big 4 accounting firm. Dr. Werner has also conducted academic research on applied microeconomics, using data to generate new insights, presenting his work at several academic conferences, and serving as a peer review referee for academic journal publications.
