Rahul Gupta is an antitrust and competition expert who specializes in industrial policy, local labor markets, urban economics, and the economics of innovation. Dr. Gupta has deep expertise analyzing how competition and business policy impact income inequality, spatial clustering of economic activity, entrepreneurship, and technological change and innovation. His work informs industrial policy, firm behavior and investment, workforce strategy, and economic development.
Dr. Gupta’s research examines how superstar firms and industrial policy affect the personnel and spatial organization of industry, as well as impacts of technological change on workers and competition. His research advises businesses and public policy at the city and national levels.
Dr. Gupta is a Special Sworn Status researcher at the US Census Bureau, using tax and census records on the universe of businesses and workers in projects related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and firm dynamics. As an assistant professor at Georgetown, Dr. Gupta taught courses on managerial economics, competitive strategy, and firm analysis, emphasizing rigorous economic reasoning applied to real strategic decisions.
