Mike LeGower has more than 10 years of experience in investigations and litigation consulting, specializing in consumer protection and competition issues. He served as an economist and, ultimately, Deputy Assistant Director in the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Economics from 2014 to 2025, where he oversaw the economic analysis of cases involving deceptive marketing and unfair business practices. Dr. LeGower has experience evaluating scientific and statistical evidence in support of advertising as well as conducting independent and agency-sponsored economic research for publications.

Dr. LeGower has been involved in significant cases and regulatory initiatives. These include FTC v. Amazon.com, Inc., FTC v. Equifax, Inc., FTC v. VIZIO, Inc., and US v. Epic Games, Inc. His regulatory experience includes contributing to the development of the Combating Auto Retail Scams (CARS) Trade Regulation Rule and participating in the Frontiers of Benefit-Cost Analysis Subcommittee of the National Science and Technology Council. 

Prior to his leadership role at the FTC, Dr. LeGower advised Commissioner Christine Wilson on consumer protection matters before the Commission, providing independent policy analysis of consumer protection topics. 

Dr. LeGower has written and spoken about a variety of diverse and intricate economic subjects. He has published scholarly papers and led panel discussions on several public policy, labor economics, and consumer protection topics. Further reflecting his commitment to education and research, Dr. LeGower is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, where he teaches courses on cost-benefit analysis.
