Fabricio Nuñez advises clients on a wide array of matters in international arbitration, finance, valuation, securities, and trading. He has provided expert testimony on valuation-related topics in high-stakes international arbitration cases before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). His expertise extends to advising clients during international arbitration procedures and financial and securities litigations in US federal and state courts.

With a focus on asset valuation across global markets and industries in international arbitration matters, Dr. Nuñez holds extensive experience in sectors such as energy, mining, natural resources, infrastructure, telecommunications, and financial institutions, particularly in Latin America and developing countries. Dr. Nuñez has been recognized in the Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) as a leading expert in arbitration. He has published on valuation topics, pre- and post-award interest, and country risk in international arbitration publications.

Dr. Nuñez is also well-versed in securities and financial matters, having been involved in multiple litigations connected to the global financial crisis. His work included extensive analyses of mortgage-backed securities and the development of benchmark fixed-income portfolios to evaluate investment performance and suitability. He has significant experience in valuations and securities cases in shareholder disputes in transnational mergers and acquisitions transactions and disputes in Delaware courts.

Dr. Nuñez’s experience encompasses roles in consulting and the corporate and legal sectors. Before joining NERA, he was a partner in the international arbitration group of a global consulting firm. Before consulting, Dr. Nuñez spent several years in the corporate sector. He was a senior economist with Cargill’s Energy and Metals Trading Group, where he developed economic models and trading strategies for physical and financial energy products. Dr. Nuñez joined Cargill Treasury’s Global Capital Markets and Trade and Structured Finance Groups, where he advised corporate leadership on asset-liability management and interest rate, commodity, and currency hedging of Cargill’s global portfolio of financial and physical positions as part of the company’s trade and finance risk mitigation efforts. He was also senior consultant at a national law firm, where he advised partners and clients in all phases of financial litigation, including case development and strategy, discovery, depositions, preparation of expert reports and testimony, and trial.
