On 6–7 November, Managing Director Soren Tang Sorensen will speak at the 9th Sub Sahara Spectrum Management Conference in Nairobi, Kenya. NERA is a knowledge partner for the conference.

Dr. Sorensen will moderate a panel discussion titled “Spectrum Licensing Regimes for Enhanced Connectivity in Sub-Saharan Africa.” The session will explore policy frameworks and different ways in which regulators are looking to ensure spectrum best contributes to their countries’ broader goals. The panel will discuss the key role award and pricing strategies play in the success of licensing regimes and the various approaches being proposed to maximize the value of spectrum.

Dr. Sorensen will also moderate a separate panel discussion on “The Post-WRC Mid Band Landscape—Has the Right Balance Been Found?” The panel will examine the emerging spectrum landscape, the distribution of various technologies with access to frequencies, and the access models employed as the post-WRC-23 mid-band ecosystem becomes clearer. The panel will also assess whether key technologies currently have adequate access to mid-band frequencies to fulfill their future needs and evaluate if an appropriate balance has been struck in making spectrum available through licensed, unlicensed, and shared approaches. Dr. Sorensen will be joined by speakers from APCEP Niger, BOCRA, Policy Impact Partners, and Huawei.
