On 16–18 September, Senior Managing Director Benjamin Chee will speak in two sessions at the Renewable Energy Markets (REM) 2024 Conference in Denver, Colorado. NERA is also a proud sponsor of the conference.

On 17 September at 13:30 MDT, Mr. Chee will speak in a panel discussion titled “Renewable Electricity Supply Constraints in Wholesale and Voluntary Markets.” The panel will delve into the obstacles and restrictions of renewable electricity supply in wholesale and voluntary markets, focusing on the Western Electricity Coordinating Council region and New York. It will also explore unique supply constraints in the regions and their implications for voluntary renewable energy procurement and compliance markets.

In a separate session at 14:45 MDT, Mr. Chee, Senior Analyst Jane Kim, and Analyst Hannah Farrell will lead a roundtable discussion and present on “Compliance Market Procurement Drivers.” Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs) are the lifeblood of the renewable energy sector, driving the development and deployment of clean energy projects worldwide. Contract terms in the compliance market differ significantly from those in the voluntary market. Mr. Chee, Ms. Kim, and Ms. Farrell will discuss the distinctive features of VPPAs and contract terms in the compliance market. Key areas of exploration will include the unique flexibilities and rigidities of these agreements, driven by the regulatory framework. The panel aims to provide a deeper understanding of how these contract terms influence market participation and compliance strategies.
