In this seminar, we will introduce practical applications of economic analysis in the contexts of litigation, regulatory compliance, and preemptive measures and preparation.
Economic analysis refers to a comprehensive set of analytical methods based on theories and techniques from fields such as economics, econometrics, statistics, mathematical finance, and accounting, aimed at quantitatively understanding and evaluating phenomena. In the practice of litigation, disputes, and regulation, economic analysis has been utilized to support discussions on issues where quantitative evidence is significant, such as damage calculations, examination of causality, and the valuation of financial assets and intellectual property.
In this seminar, Tomohiko Yano, Director at NERA Tokyo office with extensive experience in economic analysis, will explain how economic analysis can be applied in preemptive and post-incident responses related to antitrust law, securities and valuation, intellectual property, and general commercial matters, based on his own case studies. He will discuss practical methods for using economic analysis to minimize risks and maximize effectiveness.
