On 17–18 June, Managing Director Soren Sorensen will speak at the 21st European Spectrum Management Conference in Brussels. NERA is a proud knowledge partner of the event.
On 17 June, Dr. Sorensen will moderate a session titled “Upper 6-GHz-Band: The Road Ahead After the RSPG Opinion.” Against the backdrop of the RSPG opinion, the approach proposed by Ofcom, and other developments emerging across Europe and globally, this session will explore whether we are finally nearing a resolution on the future use of this highly contested band. It will also examine what the decisions being made could mean for mobile and unlicensed users and for satellite, PMSE, and other incumbent services operating within the band. Dr. Sorensen will speak alongside Meta Director of Public Policy Alan Norman, Nokia Global Head of Spectrum Standardization Eiman Mohyeldin, Orange Director of Spectrum Strategy Steve Blythe, Agence Nationale des Fréquences (ANFR) CEO Gilles Brégant, Ofcom Director of Spectrum Engineering Steve Leach, and Wi-Fi Alliance Vice President of Worldwide Regulatory Affairs Alex Roytblat.
In a separate session on 18 June, Dr. Sorensen will co-moderate “Pause for Thought – 5G: Did Europe Get It Right?” This session will review Europe’s 5G spectrum and regulatory strategy nearly a decade on, assessing its successes and challenges, including monetization and rollout issues. It will explore whether the approach delivered strong outcomes and identify key lessons to inform future strategy as Europe prepares for 6G. Dr. Sorensen will co-moderate with Aetha Consulting Managing Partner Lee Sanders.
