The 74th Annual ABA Spring Meeting will take place from 25–27 March, bringing together legal and economic professionals to discuss current developments in antitrust, consumer protection, and data privacy. NERA experts will participate in four sessions addressing class certification standards, merger analysis, economic methods in antitrust, and surveillance pricing.
On 25 March, Director Claire Chunying Xie will chair “Rigorous Enough? Revisiting Class Cert Standard,” examining how courts apply rigorous analysis in class certification, including common impact, damages methodologies, and the treatment of uninjured class members. Managing Director Paul Wong will speak in the “Advanced Antitrust Merger Economics” session, exploring the economic analyses used in merger reviews and litigation and how they are evaluated by regulators and courts. Director Emily Walden will discuss “Fundamentals—Economics,” reviewing key economic approaches used in antitrust cases, including damages and econometric analysis.
On 26 March, Managing Director Andrew Stivers will join the “Surveillance Pricing: Who’s Watching Your Wallet?” panel, examining how granular consumer data are used to set individualized prices and the related competition, privacy, and consumer protection considerations, along with emerging regulatory responses.
