NERA Affiliated Academic Dr. Marc Ivaldi was a guest speaker at the 11th annual Competition Law, Economics and Policy Conference, hosted by the Competition Commission in South Africa.

Dr. Ivaldi spoke on “Competition in the Long Distance Passenger Rail Market” and “Economic Efficiency and Political Capture in Public Service Contracts”.  He also participated in the panel session, “Big Data, Internet of Things, Algorithms and Competition Law: Threats and opportunities for developing countries,” which was moderated by Norman Manoim from the Competition Tribunal. Other conference speakers included Cyril Ramaphosa, the Deputy President of South Africa, and Ebrahim Patel, the Minister of Economic Development.
