Jim Yin is a trusted regulatory and international arbitration economist. He advises energy, water, transport, and telecoms sector clients on issues including setting price controls, due diligence, and quantum assessment in investor-state and commercial disputes. His work has spanned a range of geographies including the UK and Ireland, Continental Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and Asia.

In regulatory economics, Mr. Yin advises regulated utilities and regulators on issues such as cost of capital, profitability assessment, financial risk modelling, and regulatory framework design. He currently advises several UK energy networks, including the Energy Networks Association (ENA), on the RIIO-2 price control and previously advised Heathrow Airport and NATS at their price reviews, various water companies at PR14 and PR19 price reviews, and Ofcom in its review of BT's charges. In addition to advisory work, Mr. Yin also works with investors on due diligence assignments in the energy, water, and transport sectors in the UK and other European countries.

With respect to international arbitration, Mr. Yin has worked on more than a dozen investor-state and commercial disputes before the ICSID, PCA, ICC, UNCITRAL and other high courts. His experience includes a range of economic and quantum issues such as damages estimations arising from government intervention and contract breaches and lost profit assessments due to construction delays. His work spans several sectors including oil and gas, petrochemicals, airports/airlines, telecoms, and real estate. 

Mr. Yin is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) charterholder, a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and a CAIA charterholder. He graduated with distinction from the London School of Economics and was the winner of the Antoine Faure-Grimaud Prize for best overall performance
