On 1 June 2022, NERA Associate Director Dr. Andrew Stivers will participate in webinar on “Consumer Protection and the Algorithmic Bias” presented by the Consumer Protection Committee of the ABA. Dr. Stivers will be joined by Lauren Aronson of Crowell & Moring LLP, Nicol Turner Lee of the Brookings Institution, and Vikram Swaruup of the DC Attorney General’s Office.

Dr. Stivers advises clients on novel and complex questions of injury, gains, and other market impacts for consumer protection and privacy matters. His work on privacy matters extends from children’s data concerns under COPPA to novel questions at the intersection of privacy and antitrust. He has particular expertise in internet-based market issues, privacy, data security, technology, information economics, consumer labeling, and cutting-edge promotion and advertising strategies. Prior to joining NERA, Dr. Stivers was a senior official in the US Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Economics, where he oversaw all economic analysis of consumer protection and privacy matters.
