New York City, New York—NERA is pleased to announce Fabricio Nuñez has joined the firm as a Managing Director. Dr. Nuñez brings a wealth of experience in international arbitration, finance, and valuation, strengthening NERA’s dedication to providing unparalleled expertise for its clients.

Dr. Nuñez has advised clients on a range of matters, specializing in international arbitration, securities, transactions, and trading. He has served as an expert witness in high-stakes international arbitration cases before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). His extensive knowledge includes guiding clients through international arbitration procedures and complex financial litigation in US federal and state courts.

Dr. Nuñez’s extensive sector experience includes energy, mining, natural resources, telecommunications, hospitality, insurance, and pensions, particularly in Latin America and developing markets. His contributions have earned him recognition as a leading expert in arbitration by the Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal).

Dr. Nuñez has an impressive track record in securities and financial matters, playing a pivotal role in litigation related to the global financial crisis. His extensive work involved comprehensive analyses of mortgage-backed securities and developing benchmark fixed-income portfolios to assess investment performance and suitability.

Before joining NERA, Dr. Nuñez was a partner in the international arbitration group of a global consulting firm. He held significant roles in the corporate sector at Cargill, including senior economist and senior consultant, where he developed economic models and trading strategies and advised corporate leadership on asset-liability management.

Dr. Nuñez holds a PhD in applied economics and a MA in public policy from the University of Minnesota and a BS in economics from the Universidad de Chile. He is recognized as a thought leader in his field, regularly participating in international conferences and contributing to academic publications.
